Happy Birthday Grandma

As I look upon a star

I like to say happy birthday grandma

I never knew what present to give you

You would tell me a hug and kiss will do

As I got older and became a man

You would say “you’re never to old to hold my hand”

Your last words to me were to be good

I cried and said “yes I know like a grandson should”

When I cry and my tears leave streaks

I can feel your precious hands wiping my cheeks

When I get on my knees and pray at night

I can hear you say “don’t forget to sit up straight and eat right”

I know you’re the best by far

I want to say I Love You and HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA

Final Thought: My Grandma Hazel birthday is today and she would have been ninety-four (94) and I miss her so much. Every year on her birthday, I sit and cry as I think about her. I think about her everyday, but for some reason, I seem to think about her and I cry non-stop. I remember when I was a kid, I would beg my dad to let me spend the night at my grandma house. She would even call my dad and ask him if it was his weekend to pick me up and if it was, she would tell him to drop me off at her house. At that time I was her only grandchild and yes she spoiled me, but never let me lose sight of who I was and to always be well manner. As she got older, her health began to fail and I would go to see her just about everyday. I still remember the last time I saw her in the hospital and she was having trouble breathing and she could barley talk. She took a deep breath and said to me “you be good” and for a moment she was breathing good. After that she started having trouble breathing again. It caught me off guard and I was stuck for a moment. She passed away a few days later in 2000 and she was seventy-nine (79). Her funeral was suppose to be the following week, but because of the weather, her funeral wasn’t until two weeks later and her funeral was held on my birthday. So you can only imagine the feelings that were going on inside of me. I love you grandma and happy birthday. Thanks for reading…
